About Ajalon Associates

Principal Associate - Iris Hillery BA (Hons), MA (HRM), FCIPD, MIC

MIHsml.jpgAjalon Associates was founded in 2002 as part of a 'second career' in business consulting. My first career was as an operational manager in retail bookselling, working for over 15 years with major chains. This provided me with interesting and varied senior management roles and sparked my interest in people management.

In order to develop my new career in business consulting, I undertook a Masters degree in Human Resource Management and worked for four years with a private management consultancy and a year with Business Link.  This provided me with an excellent network and experience to set up my own business in 2002.

I primarily work with quality frameworks such as Investors in People and the matrix Standard for information, advice and guidance.  As well as carrying out assessments in my role as a licensed Assessor for these national standards, I offer consultancy support for organisations seeking to develop  their business through their 'greatest asset' - their people.

The key attributes of Ajalon Associates are:

  • A pragmatic approach driven by experience in the highly competitive arena of retail bookselling during a major period of growth.
  • Practical management experience - like most operational managers, I have had to deal personally with leadership and motivation and performance management. This has at times included cost-cutting and making people redundant.
